Pin Me ~ Week Eleven ~ from my Perhaps I Might Read Board ~ Hemingway’s Girl

26 Apr

Oh nuts!

You know what happens when you don’t keep up with your blogging? You lose track of dates. And, until you go back and start looking at a calendar, you won’t realize that you think you’re being so good catching up on your blogging only to figure out that you skipped an entire week! Hemingway's Girl

Doh!

So this is Week Eleven’s blog post, but in reality, it should have been Week Eight. I suppose I should shift all my blogs a week, but then I’d never catch up.

At any rate, I scored me a copy of Hemingway’s Girl by Erika Robuck. I had been thinking about possibly reading this book (thus, why it was on my “Perhaps I Might Read” board), but it was Book Addict Katie’s review that pushed me to get it.

Book Addict Katie is funny, intelligent and works in a bookstore so you know she’s got double secret, back door access, to book knowledge that the rest of us can only hope to glean from those so wisely in the know of all things books. She has a blog and you can also follow her on Twitter. She is a Dog Mom to Marshall. And for those of us that are cat owners servants, she has cats (Patches & Rory). And yes, they try to kill her, too.*

Happy Thang: It’s the weekend.

*Note: if you are not a cat servant, this might need some explaining. Those of us that are, try most days to please our kitty kitties. Otherwise, they will make us pay. And it only takes one time for you to receive “that look”** to make you shape up and do their bidding.

**That look is the one they give you as a warning. It says, do what I demand, or else…

And that’s why we all sleep with one eye open.

Spring To Do’s–Check! Check! Check!

12 May

So seeing as it is almost half way through the month of May that can only mean one thing. SUMMER is right around the corner. Whoo to the hoo!

This got me thinking that I better check in on my Spring Want-To-Do list. So here is what I have accomplished since March 29:

Become a 3X Script Frenzy Winner – check

Paint that 24” X 24” canvas – check (see photo in this post)

Spend every free moment reading – check (and I’ve been able to read on my porch swing b/c of nice weather…bonus!)

I still have a few more to get done in the near future. Here is my full list of Spring Want-To-Do’s https://redcurlgurl.wordpress.com/2011/03/29/my-spring-want-to-dos/

But I’m feeling like I can cross the rest of them off in the near future.

I want to put my money where my mouth is (see 5/10 blog). I don’t remember the exact quote, but someone once said be the change you want to see happen (or something close to that).  So I promise at the end of each blog to post a moment of happy for you. It might be a quote, a photo or in today’s case a video. Enjoy!

Here is your happy moment for the day:

P.S. It’s National Hug Your Cat Day. So if you got ‘em, squeeze ‘em.

5 Things You Can Do to Help Southern Tornado Victims

2 May

My heart goes out to the folks in the South that were hit so hard by the recent tornadoes. It will take some time to rebuild their lives and they are going to need help. Here are just 5 ways you can help:

1) Donate Blood – The American Red cross is seeking blood donations. You can contact them online or call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) to schedule a blood donation.

2) Help animals – Natural disasters separate loved ones (human and furry). 100% of your donation will go to aid animal survivors of the April 2011 tornadoes through grants from Greater Good.

3) Help provide food, drink and spiritual support through The Salvation Army. You can donate online or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769) and designate “April 2011 Tornado Outbreak”.

4) Volunteer! Find out about opportunities in Mississippi , Alabama and Tennessee.

5) Send healing thoughts and good karma from your desk, your home, your car. Just do it. Do it now. They will feel it.
